Hokuto No Ken! (Fist of the North Star)

Also I believe I heard somewhere that Cartoon Network briefly aired a heavily censored English Dub of Fist of the North Star on Toonami in order for it to receive a TV-Y7 FV rating but due to the violence and controversy they were only able to air the first two episodes and it eventually became just a spoof or parody. Is that true? Do you know anything about this dub turned parody? If so please tell me more about it and how it was done.

Edit: Yes I know about the abridged and thanks for telling me about it but what I’m referring to was probably back in the 1990s-early 2000s when Toonami would air in the afternoon after school hours and they would air awesome anime (despite lots of them being censored to appeal to wider audiences) i.e. Dragon Ball/Z/GT, Yu-Gi-Oh, Sailor Moon and many others. I believe somewhere I heard that Cartoon Network actually aired the real Fist of the North Star anime in English but it was heavily censored for kids but because of the violence and controversy rather than continuing to censor it they were only able to air the first two episodes and realized that “this was too much” so it ended up becoming a spoof or parody. That’s what I’m curious about.

I remember my brother and I watching this show when airing on TV as little kids and we weren’t aware of adult cartoons at the time (another example was when we were watching The Simpsons) and our Mom saw us watching it and she told us to turn it off.
