This outfit definitely debunks that stupid fan theory of Mario being a Communist. I’m pretty sure that theory is why they gave him this outfit for certain games like Smash Bros. for instance.

I actually met him at a convention a few years ago and he was a really nice guy. While he may be retiring as the voice of Mario at least he’ll still be serving as an ambassador role for Nintendo and the Mario character. Hopefully they will be able to find a good impersonator for his Mario voice and maybe use some recycled audio clips of his Mario voice.
