Have I Done The Right Thing With Quitting A Rated Art? (For the most part)

Posted by SolidSnakeOnAPlane - 3 weeks ago

Again I don’t want to get into too much detail but I’m wondering if everyone thinks if I've made the right decision in quitting doing A Rated art? Sometimes I feel like the tempted urge to draw some more of it. But I also don’t want to get banned or draw too far out of my comfort zone. I also don’t want to make a bad impression or make it a bad habit again. Should I just continue with not doing that kind of art anymore? (For the most part). I don’t want people not trusting me or thinking bad about me. I’m not necessarily saying it won’t happen sometimes I just don’t want to get back in that bad habit. Though some and even myself would probably say my A Rated art is pretty tame compared to the other A Rated stuff on here.

with A-rated art, I think it really depends on what you draw. if you draw perfectly vanilla stuff then nobody will really think much about it, but if you draw kinky stuff then it'll raise eyebrows. But if you fear that people might not take you seriously or that people will think bad about you then probably safest not to draw adult art :)

For a while I had been doing adult and mature themed art of characters from kids shows (just scroll through some of my art posts to get the idea). I kinda think if I go back to doing that again it might become a bad habit again. Unless I just drew it but didn’t name the characters or source. But I still want people to trust me.

@SolidSnakeOnAPlane yeah, probs don't draw nsfw of kids show characters if you want people to trust you. plus wouldn't it be a bit draining on your mental health? I'm no artists but I'd imagine drawing nsfw does stuff to a person's mental after a while

I totally understand. It got to the point where I was starting to question myself as a good person. (Or something like that. Even if the characters were aged up it might still not be the best thing to do.)

In terms of rating, it depends on what you've been going for. Most people use A rated art because it allows them to do their art more freely. Others do it to protest censorship. Some just like making screwed up stuff for kicks and others make art that even the screwed up artists would vomit at...sometimes for good reason.

That said, it also depends on why you wish to quit. Do you wish to quit for yourself or for your fans. In my case, whenever I do something in terms of art, I try to do a middle ground, something my fans might like but at the same time I do my own thing.

I want to do what’s best for me but also what’s for my friends and followers. I want them to trust me. And I know drawing aged up versions of characters and stuff that some people may find appeal from it while it might bother others. It’s been a long time since my last A Rated drawing and I want to try and keep going with more cute and funny drawings.

@SolidSnakeOnAPlane Miyagi said it best. "If come from you, always right one." Your art is good, whatever you draw is well detailed. If you wish to do cute and funny drawings from here on, they'll be a work of art regardless. Be you.

Yes.

Thanks. It’s good to hear that someone else thinks I’ve made the right choice. I’m not necessarily saying A Rated art won’t happen sometimes but I’m trying real hard to make it through several months (if not a year) or so without doing that kind of art. We’re you personally bothered by some of those drawings?

@SolidSnakeOnAPlane They just didn't look good. You really need practice on your drawing skills first before you attempt something like that. Also, as a rule of thumb, underages shouldn't be able to get into NSFW works on principle. It's a gateway towards making them more liable to get into some major mistakes / make them get into some grim fuckshit when they get older, since it desensitizes you towards normal porn/sex habits.

Yeah I noticed a whole lot of those drawings didn’t necessarily turn out the best (except a very few of them) but I kind of realized drawing that kind of stuff deep down just isn’t me.
